SUBJECT: Council Meeting Schedule – Cancellation of November 28, 2023 and December 26, 2023 Meetings Due to Upcoming Holidays and Anticipated Lack of Business Meeting Date: October 10, 2023
RECOMMENDATION:
Council to consider canceling the regular City Council meetings originally scheduled for November 28, 2023 and December 26, 2023 due to holiday schedules.
BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS:
The meeting scheduled for November 28, 2023, is right after the Thanksgiving holiday, given anticipated business or lack thereof based on prior years and potential scheduling conflicts, it is recommended to cancel the November 28, 2023, meeting. Staff will coordinate with the Mayor to call a special City Council meeting if the need or pressing business arises.
Further, City Hall will be closed for its annual holiday break in accordance with the memorandum of understanding with CCEA from December 25, 2023, to January 7, 2023. The City Council's regular meeting is planned for December 26, 2023, which coincides with this holiday closure. Therefore, it is advisable to also cancel the second meeting currently scheduled for December.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This activity can be carried out without additional impact on the current operating budget.
