A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 2024 23’ DIAMOND SHUTTLE VAN FROM AZ BUS SALES WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation staff operate a 2013 CNG Glaval Commercial Van (Unit 281) to transport seniors to/from the senior center. Unit 281 has exceeded its useful life and needs to be replaced; and WHEREAS, on September 12, 2023, the City Council approved Capital Expenditure items, including a new shuttle van for the senior center for $128,000. However, with input from the Senior Center staff and the Parks and Recreation Management team, the Transportation staff identified that the new shuttle bus needed to be bigger than originally proposed to meet the Senior Center transportation needs; and WHEREAS, the new commercial shuttle van accommodates passengers with better seating, headroom, space, and overall better rider experience. The bus purchase can be executed by utilizing the cooperative agreement through MBTA CalACT Cooperative RFP # 20-01 for Accessible Transit/Paratransit vehicles. The MBTA contract documents meet all State and City requirements for competitive procurement; and WHEREAS, The proposed Diamond 23' Shuttle Van purchase costs approximately $163,246 for FY24.

WHEREAS, City staff requests approval for an additional $35,246 to cover the increased cost of the larger proposed commercial shuttle van for the Senior Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The purchase of a Diamond 23’ Shuttle Van from AZ Bus Sales for the Senior Central is hereby approved.
Section 3. Approve the additional $35,246 to cover the increased cost of the larger proposed commercial shuttle van for the Senior Center.
Section 4. The Mayor is authorized to execute this Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this Resolution.
