1 PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Countywide Signal Priority (CSP) Upgrade and Expansion NextGen Project (NextGen) will deploy Bus Signal Priority (BSP) systems along several corridors throughout Los Angeles County. The CSP systems to be deployed will be based on the technologies, hardware, and software developed, tested, and placed into “on the street” operation as defined by Metro’s CSP Standard.

CSP Compliant Systems have been deployed throughout Los Angeles County along several major corridors.

This project seeks to commission new BSP systems along some corridors and modernize existing systems for others.

The project includes the design, procurement, installation, and testing of a bus signal priority (BSP) system to support Metro’s Bus service. Traffic signal improvements other than controller and controller software upgrades, such as cabinet change-outs and installation of new traffic signal cables, and street improvements, such as ADA improvements, curb replacements, median modifications, and access ramps are not included in the scope of work.

As part of the project, the design team will conduct meetings with each of the affected local agencies responsible for traffic signal operations and maintenance to discuss the placement of the WLAN equipment including antennas, enclosures, and hardware mounted in the intersection controller cabinets as well as the use of existing conduits, the possible use of existing signal interconnect, communication, traffic controller and controller cabinet upgrades, and equipment installation requirements in the following corridors:
