A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING CITY-COUNTY MUNICIPAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL AND FY 2024-2029 SERVICE LEVEL REQUEST WHEREAS, the City of Commerce has one full-time Animal Control Officer and one part-time Animal Control Officer on staff and utilizes the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control for shelter services, additional services, and supplementary staffing; and WHEREAS, the City is committed to providing its community with a safe environment by minimizing the population of stray animals within the City’s jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, the existing Agreement with the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control expires on June 30, 2024. A Service Level Request Agreement must be signed on an annual basis; and WHEREAS, the fees are based on a “fee for service” scale, as outlined in the fees document. The approved fiscal year budget includes $75,000 for this agreement; and WHEREAS, the new Agreement shall be effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2029.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. Approve the Agreement with the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control in a form approved by the City Attorney.
Section 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Agreement and this Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
