A PROCLAMATION OF THE COMMERCE CITY COUNCIL
DESIGNATING OCTOBER 2024 AS NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH IN THE CITY OF COMMERCE WHEREAS, the United States Government has declared October 2024 as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month; and WHEREAS, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October; and WHEREAS, breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women, with more than 281,550 women and 2,650 men expected to be diagnosed this year; and WHEREAS, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month will raise the public’s knowledge and awareness to take necessary steps to reduce the risk of breast cancer through early detection and treatment; and WHEREAS, for over 100 years the American Cancer Society has worked relentlessly to save lives and create a world with less cancer; and WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society is actively fighting breast cancer by helping women get tested to find breast cancer earlier, and helping them understand their treatment options and cope with the physical and emotional side effects; and WHEREAS, the members of the Commerce City Council strongly support the efforts of the American Cancer Society to promote breast cancer awareness; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COMMERCE CITY COUNCIL HEREBY PROCLAIMS OCTOBER 2024 AS NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH IN THE CITY OF COMMERCE TO INCREASE AWARENESS AND PROMOTE EARLY DETECTION OF THIS DISEASE.
