A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND SKY ELEMENTS DRONE SHOW, INC. FOR THE CITY’S 65TH BIRTHDAY OPENING CEREMONIES DISPLAY AT ROSEWOOD PARK WHEREAS, the City of Commerce will celebrate its 65th Birthday in 2025, and the Parks and Recreation Department has organized year-long celebratory events to mark this milestone; and WHEREAS, the City Council previously allocated $250,000 on July 9, 2024, to fund these events, which will include a drone show as part of the opening ceremonies scheduled for January 25, 2025; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the drone show provided by Sky Elements Drone Show, Inc. will be a key feature of the opening ceremonies and provide an exciting and memorable experience for the residents of Commerce; and WHEREAS, the City of Commerce's 60th Birthday celebrations in 2020 were significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the cancellation of several events, and the upcoming 65th Birthday festivities will offer the community an opportunity to fully participate in the celebration; and WHEREAS, the expenditure of $40,000 for the Sky Elements Drone Show is included in the Fiscal Year 2024/25 budget and has been previously approved by the City Council on July 9, 2024; and WHEREAS, the approval of this agreement aligns with the City’s Strategic Goal #1 to develop a citywide plan that enhances and maintains the City's environment and infrastructure, thereby improving the quality of life for all who live, work, and play in the community; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Commerce, California, hereby approves the agreement between the City of Commerce and Sky Elements Drone Show, Inc. for the provision of the drone show as part of the City’s 65th Birthday Opening Ceremonies at Rosewood Park in a form approved by the City Attorney.
Section 3. The Mayor is authorized to execute this Resolution and Agreement for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of October 2024 by the City Council of the City of Commerce, California.
