RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE RENTAL OF SECURITY CAMERA TRAILERS FOR A 12-MONTH PERIOD UTILIZAING MEASURE AA FUNDING WHEREAS, on November 6, 2012, the City of Commerce voters approved by majority Measure AA, an ordinance establishing a one-half percent sales tax to fund general municipal services; and WHEREAS, utilizing new technology and equipment can aid in crime prevention strategies. Both private and public sectors are utilizing camera trailers to improve safety and security. Furthermore, the cameras increase Public Safety’s capabilities and can acts as a crime deterrent; and WHEREAS, several companies were contacted and Backstreet Surveillance was the lowest bid for trailer rentals. Backstreet Surveillance rental trailers provide monitoring services, support, and vandalism repair. The trailers are equipped with 4K cameras, color night vision, 500-foot human detection, solar charging, mobile app access, and GPS tracker; and WHEREAS, the proposed program can be funded by Measure AA to support Public Safety’s crime prevention strategy by utilizing technology. The total amount requested for a 12-month period is $82,467.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The Measure AA funding for a camera trailer program is hereby approved.
Section 3. Approve the rental of three trailers from Backstreet Surveillance for a 12-month period for an amount not to exceed $82,467. The approval is subject to the City Attorney approving all rental documents as to form.
Section 4. Authorize the Mayor to execute this Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 5. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
