SUBJECT: Council Meeting Schedule – Cancellation of November 26, 2024 and December 24, 2024 Meetings Due to Upcoming Holidays and Anticipated Lack of Business Meeting Date: October 22, 2024
RECOMMENDATION:
Council to consider canceling the regular City Council meetings originally scheduled for November 26, 2024 and December 24, 2024 due to holiday schedules.
BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS:
The meeting scheduled for November 26, 2024, is right before the Thanksgiving holiday, given anticipated business or lack thereof based on prior years and potential scheduling conflicts, it is recommended to cancel the November 26, 2024, meeting. Staff will coordinate with the Mayor to call a special City Council meeting if the need or pressing business arises.
Further, City Hall will be closed for its annual holiday break in accordance with the memorandum of understanding with CCEA from December 23, 2024, to January 5, 2024. The City Council's regular meeting is planned for December 24, 2024, which coincides with this holiday closure. Therefore, it is advisable to also cancel the second meeting currently scheduled for December.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This activity can be carried out without additional impact on the current operating budget.
