TO: Honorable City Council
FROM: City Manager
SUBJECT: Adoption of Resolution Allocating $8,880 for the printing and delivering annual calendars for Commerce Households Meeting Date: October 22, 2024
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council will consider adopting a resolution to allocate $8,880 for the printing and distributing 2025 calendars to Commerce households.
ANALYSIS
The City of Commerce's Graphic and Public Information Office divisions previously produced annual calendars that highlighted commission meetings, major city events, and featured graphics and photos showcasing Commerce throughout the year. The last calendar was completed in 2020, but production was halted due to the pandemic.
A council member has requested that staff design and distribute 2025 calendars to all households. Given that the 2024-2025 budget was adopted with a status quo approach, the City Council is requested to authorize $8,880 for the printing and distributing of 4,000 calendars.
ALTERNATIVES:
Approve staff recommendation
Disapprove staff recommendation
Provide further direction to staff
FISCAL IMPACT:
The printing cost for 4,000 calendars is $8,280, and for the pass in the mail is $600. If the City Council approves staff’s recommendation, an appropriation of $8,880 from the General Fund’s projected beginning fiscal year surplus would also need to be approved.
