SUBJECT: Speed Hump Installation on Neenah Street between Greenwood Avenue and Todd Avenue Meeting Date: December 10, 2024
RECOMMENDATION:

The City Council will consider adopting a Resolution approving the installation of Speed Humps on Neenah Street between Greenwood Avenue and Todd Avenue.

BACKGROUND:

Staff received a request from a resident to install speed humps to address speeding concerns and to minimize cut-thru traffic along Neenah Street between Greenwood Avenue and Todd Avenue.

Staff completed the evaluation of the request based on the City’s Speed Hump Policy, review and analysis of the Average Daily Traffic (ADT), and field observations, and determined that the segment of Neenah Street between Greenwood Avenue and Todd Avenue met the Speed Hump criteria.

On November 13, 2024, this item was presented to the Traffic Commission for consideration at their November 13, 2024, meeting (report and diagrams with further information attached). As a result, the Traffic Commission made a motion recommending that City Council approve the speed hump installation on Neenah Street.

ANALYSIS:

Based on the review and analysis of the ADT, Collison Data, Speed Survey, the City’s Speed Hump Policy criteria, installation of 2 sets of speed humps along with pavement legends, and signage on Neenah Street between Greenwood Avenue and Todd Avenue attached herein as Exhibit A-1 (copy attached) is recommended.
