A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE APPROVING THE ALLOCATION OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE 2025 INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AND PROVIDING DIRECTION ON THE EVENT DATE WHEREAS, the City of Commerce is committed to hosting a high-quality Independence Day celebration that fosters community pride and engagement; and WHEREAS, the City’s traditional Independence Day celebration has included a multi-day carnival, family-friendly activities, and a spectacular fireworks display; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of enhancing the 2025 Independence Day celebration with a three-day carnival to enrich the experience for residents and visitors; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department has identified the need for an additional $45,000 to incorporate the three-day carnival into the 2025 program and secure commitments from vendors, entertainers, and the pyrotechnic company; and WHEREAS, the availability of pyrotechnic services for July 4th may be limited due to scheduling conflicts, and the City Council must determine the date of the celebration to ensure successful planning and implementation of the event; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Commerce hereby:
The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Approves the allocation of an additional $45,000 for the 2025 Independence Day Celebration.
Directs the Parks and Recreation Department to incorporate a three-day carnival into the 2025 program, operating the day before, the day of, and the day after the event.
Provides direction on the preferred date for the 2025 Independence Day Celebration to finalize vendor and programming commitments.
The Mayor is authorized to execute this Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
