Adopt the Resolution approving the Memorandum of Understanding for Measure R 20% MOU # MEASR26COM Bus Operation Funds.
ANALYSIS:
On November 4, 2008, the County of Los Angeles voters approved Measure R, an ordinance establishing a one-half percent sales tax for better public transportation and quality of life. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) is the agency responsible for administering these funds.
The City’s share of the program funding for FY 2026 is $242,579. This MOU is in effect from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2035.
ALTERNATIVES:
Approve the attached Resolution approving the Memorandum of Understanding, or Provide staff with further direction.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Measure R funds are recorded and expended in the City’s Transit Fund. The $242,579 will be included in the Transit Fund revenue for FY 2025-26 and will support the transportation operations.
RELATIONSHIP TO STRATEGIC GOALS:
This agenda item report relates to the City’s strategic planning goal: "Grow revenues to ensure all expenses are being met so that we can remain fiscally responsible and continue to provide services to the residents." These subsidies will assist in mitigating transportation's operating and capital costs for the City.
