A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE CREATIVE CROSSWALKS PROJECT AT [SELECTED INTERSECTION] AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH SHARIDEN DESIGN ASPHALT INC.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Commerce has demonstrated its commitment to enhancing the community through the Arts in Public Places Program; and WHEREAS, the City Council previously allocated $200,000 from the Arts in Public Places Fund to implement the Creative Crosswalks Program; and WHEREAS, the City issued a Call for Artists through a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the creation of artwork at eight (8) crosswalks located at the intersections of Commerce Way and Harbor Street, Commerce Way and Jardine Street, and a mid-block location on Harbor Street between Estrada and Commerce Way; and WHEREAS, the Arts in Public Places Subcommittee reviewed submitted proposals, requested additional design revisions, and recommended Shariden Design Asphalt Inc. to provide scaled design options that better reflect the City’s identity and remain within the allocated budget; and WHEREAS, Shariden Design Asphalt Inc. has provided revised options for installation of creative crosswalks at select intersections, with the proposed work to be completed using durable thermoplastic materials; and WHEREAS, the City Council now wishes to approve the Creative Crosswalks Project at [Selected Intersection] and enter into an agreement with Shariden Design Asphalt Inc. for said work.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The City Council hereby approves the Creative Crosswalks Project at [Selected Intersection].
Section 3. The City Council authorizes the Mayor to execute an agreement, in a form approved by the City Attorney, with Shariden Design Asphalt Inc. in the amount of $________ for the installation of the Creative Crosswalks.
Section 4. The City Manager, or designee, is authorized to take all actions necessary to carry out the intent of this Resolution.
Section 5. The Mayor is authorized to execute this Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
Section 7. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
