SUBJECT: Resolution Approving a Temporary Lease Agreement at 2313 S. Atlantic Blvd (APN: 5244-024-001) Between AWP Properties LLC and the City of Commerce Meeting Date: November 25, 2025
RECOMMENDATION:
Consider adopting the proposed resolution approving a month-to-month Temporary Lease Agreement for ten (10) parking stalls at 2313 South Atlantic Boulevard between AWP Properties LLC. and the City of Commerce.
BACKGROUND:
In September 2025, staff learned of a parking necessity for the Bandini Library located at 2269 S. Atlantic Blvd. Prior to its renovation, patrons would park their vehicles on private property or locate street parking if available. The library facility has the capacity to hold four (4) parking stalls for patrons, one (1) ADA parking stall, and four (4) tandem parking stalls for staff. Due to limited parking availability, there is a need to ensure the facility is equipped with adequate parking stalls for visiting patrons.
DISCUSSION:
In an effort to provide parking for library patrons, a private parking lot associated with a shopping center to the South of the library has agreed to lease ten (10) designated parking stalls (See Attachment A) for $3,600 per month/$43,200 per year. The property owner has agreed on a month-to-month basis while the City secures a permanent parking solution for the Bandini Library. The temporary lease agreement will begin upon completion of the flood damage repair. Upon execution of the agreement, staff will prepare signage for the ten parking stalls to distinguish them from the rest of the parking lot.

Approve staff recommendation; and/or
Provide further direction to staff
Fiscal impact:
Approval of this item will require an additional appropriation of $18,000 for the remainder of the FY 2025-26 in account 10-7625-52001 to cover the maximum cost for the (10) parking stalls.
