A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE APPROVING AGREEMENTS WITH SOUTHERN COMPUTER WAREHOUSE AND INTEGRATED SECURITY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PHASE I OF THE CITY’S PUBLIC WI-FI EXPANSION PROJECT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT FUND WHEREAS, access to reliable internet connectivity has become increasingly important for residents to access services, educational resources, and community programs; WHEREAS, the City of Commerce seeks to expand public Wi-Fi access at certain community facilities to improve digital accessibility and support community engagement; and WHEREAS, staff has recommended implementing the public Wi-Fi expansion in two phases, with Phase I focusing on interior Wi-Fi coverage within the identified facilities, and Phase II addressing exterior coverage at a future date; and WHEREAS, implementation of Phase I requires the procurement and installation of wireless access points, mounting hardware, network licensing, cabling, and installation services; and WHEREAS, Southern Computer Warehouse has submitted a proposal to provide the necessary wireless access points, equipment, and licensing required for Phase I implementation; and WHEREAS, Integrated Security has submitted a proposal to provide installation services associated with the deployment of the Wi-Fi infrastructure; and WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding agreements to Southern Computer Warehouse and Integrated Security for the implementation of Phase I of the public Wi-Fi expansion project; and WHEREAS, an appropriation of $41,000 from the Project Management Fund is required to support the total cost of Phase I implementation.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby approves the award of an agreement, in a form approved by the City Attorney, with Southern Computer Warehouse for an amount not to exceed $27,000 for the procurement of wireless access points, equipment, and licensing necessary to implement Phase I of the City’s public Wi-Fi expansion project.
SECTION 3. The City Council hereby approves the award of an agreement, in a form approved by the City Attorney, with Integrated Security for an amount not to exceed $14,000 for installation services associated with the implementation of Phase I of the City’s public Wi-Fi expansion project.
SECTION 4. The Finance Director is hereby authorized and directed to amend the FY 2025-26 budget to reflect the appropriation authorized herein and to establish the necessary expenditure accounts within the appropriate department and fund to support project implementation.
SECTION 5. The City Manager and/or designee is authorized execute the agreements for and on behalf of the City of Commerce, and to take all necessary actions consistent with this Resolution, including the administration of the agreements and execution of any budget-related documents required to carry out the intent of this Resolution.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
SECTION 7. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
