PROCLAMATION
PROCLAIMING THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2026 AS
“STUDENT LEADERSHIP DAY”
WHEREAS, the Montebello Unified School District hosts Student Leadership Day to provide high school students with meaningful opportunities to learn about local government and civic engagement; and WHEREAS, the City of Commerce is proud to partner in this important educational initiative by welcoming students to experience the functions of municipal government and public service; and WHEREAS, Student Leadership Day allows students to participate in hands-on activities, engage with City officials and staff, and gain a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities that support a thriving community; and WHEREAS, this collaborative effort helps students build leadership skills, encourages civic responsibility, and inspires future involvement in their communities; and WHEREAS, the City of Commerce values its partnership with local schools and remains committed to supporting programs that empower and educate our youth; and WHEREAS, investing in students today strengthens the future of our community by fostering informed, engaged, and capable leaders.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the City Council of the City of Commerce hereby proclaims Thursday, April 30, 2026, as “Student Leadership Day” and recognizes the Montebello Unified School District for its leadership in organizing this meaningful event, while proudly supporting the students participating in this day of learning and leadership.
