Analysis
The CHF Board meetings are held quarterly, begin at 10 a.m., and usually last two hours. A series of grant making and grant monitoring study sessions with nonprofit organizational leaders and consultants are held between Board meetings. Each session generally runs no more than three hours. Additional educational study sessions may be convened during the year to assess and improve the grant programs and grant making strategies, methods, or practices, or to enhance Board members’ understanding of their roles and responsibilities. In total these additional meetings equate to about nine additional hours an appointee is expected to commit when serving on this Board.

Two optional site visits are also held each quarter, each of which takes about 90 minutes. Attendance at these site visits is not required for Board members but is encouraged.

The 2026 Calendar of Board Meetings and Study Sessions is attached (Attachment 2), along with an informational sheet for prospective members (Attachment 3). Given the high level of engagement that is needed to sit on this Board, the Executive Director of the CHF has requested that whoever is chosen be committed to attending the scheduled board meetings and study sessions.

Aeysha Corio has served as one of Concord’s representatives on the CHF Board since 2024, is serving in good standing, and desires to serve another term. Council is being asked to reappoint Ms. Corio to the CHF Board for a term ending December 31, 2028.

Raymond Barbour has served as one of Concord’s representatives on the CHF since 2022, and he does not wish to continue serving.

Because the City Council serving as the Concord/Pleasant Hill Health Care District Board may elect at any public meeting to appoint up to two of its members to serve on the CHF Board prior to opening a recruitment for the remaining members, Council is being asked to either appoint a Councilmember to the CHF Board or open a recruitment for the upcoming vacancy for a term ending December 31, 2028.
