Founded in 2002, the Corcoran Police Department's canine unit has been a tremendous asset to our officers, community and fellow law enforcement agencies.

K9 Rex is a dual purpose dog trained in apprehension and narcotic detection. Corporal Frank Carrasco and K9 partner Rex completed
a 6 week training course in Moorpark, CA and
began patrol together September 2023. Every
month, K9 Rex participates with neighboring
agencies in the central valley for block
training.

Handler Carrasco and Rex were part of many
community events such as Red Ribbon Week
and Back to School Night where the crowds
were able to be part of the K9 demonstrations.

17 I FINAL COMMENTS
2024 has brought an immense amount of change to the Corcoran Police Department. Starting off the year in January, the Corcoran Police Department swore in Maggie Ochoa as Chief of Police. Previously, Chief Ochoa served the city of Lemoore's Police Department for 26 years. In just the short 12 months of coming on board, she has made a huge im- pact on our community. Her dedication and commitment to serving the community alongside our officers of Corcoran is remarkable and un- matched.

We are extremely appreciative of the support given to us by the Corcoran City Council as well as the citizens of Corcoran. The biggest asset to any community is the people, and we are committed to continuing to work side by side with everyone to keep this wonderful community safe. 18 City of

PUBLIC HEARING
ITEM # 5-A
TO: Corcoran City Council
FROM: Valerie Bega, Transit and Grants Manager
DATE: February 18, 2025, MEETING DATE: February 25, 2025 SUBJECT: Public Hearing to obtain comments regarding Unmet Transit Needs and consider adoption of Resolution No. 4073 Unmet Transit Needs after second hearing.

Recommendation: Voice Vote
That the Council adopts Resolution No. 4073 after Public Hearing with one of the following findings:

1. There are no unmet transit needs.

2. There are no unmet transit needs that are reasonable to meet.

3. There are unmet transit needs, including needs that are reasonable to meet.

Discussion:
public he longs are nadated by Sat at to allow a pounty for public to put o whether there are transit needs in the community that are reasonable to meet and are not being met by our existing service. At the conclusion of the today's hearing on February 25, 2025, the Council will be requested to adopt a Resolution with one of the above-listed findings.

The California Transportation Development Act of 1971 established the Local Transportation Fund (LTF), which is administered by the Kings County Association of Governments (KAG) Transportation Policy Committee (TPC). When claims are received for LTF money for purposes not directly related to public transportation services, specialized transportation services, or facilities provided for the exclusive use of pedestrians and bicycles, the following items must be considered first:
a) Low mobility person's transit needs
b) Adequate accessible public transit service is available in the jurisdictions of each claimant
Currently, staff is unaware of any unmet transit needs in the community. Unless new issues are raised during the hearing, staff would recommend the adoption of a Resolution indicating there are no unmet transit needs.

Budget Impact:

There is the potential for additional funds to be available for street and roads maintenance activities in the City of Corcoran.
