NORTHWEST
MOSQUITO &
VECTOR CONTROL
DISTRICT
UPDATE
Mosquitoes • 4 mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus within district boundaries in 2022
• 3 in Riverside, 1 in Eastvale
Ticks • Brown dog ticks are becoming more active due to the warmer temperatures
• Brown dog ticks are not a vector of Lyme disease, but can infest indoor and outdoor spaces
• Regular inspections of animals is key in identifying infestations • If ticks are found on animals, they should be removed with tweezers as close to the skin as possible, consult your veterinarian • Do NOT grab body of the tick as it may “squeeze” body fluids from the tick into the skin opening
