Title Name/Topic: Arterial Street Median Enhancements
Background
1. What is the purpose for the request i.e. what you are trying to achieve or do? I’d like to see improvements to the street medians along the Green River corridor and potentially other major gateway arterial streets in the city to include more landscaping and trees rather than just pavement in an effort to beautify the city, increase shade, and serve as traffic calming devices to reduce speeding.
2. What is the scope of the work you wish to see done?
I’d like to see a few more medians with landscaping installed on Green River, as well as potentially other major gateway arterial streets in the city where there are currently none, to include trees and other appropriate landscape features.
3. Does this request align with the City’s Strategic Plan? How? Yes. This is about continuing to build a sense of place in our community and aligns well with our urban forest renewal initiative as well.
4. What is the desired timeline to have the issue considered by Council? No specific timeline is required, just want to get this in the queue to be considered by Council in the months ahead – At least soon enough to include this as a budget discussion for FY26.
5. Is the issue urgent requiring action before the next priority setting session of Council (Spring Workshop)?
