SOUTH MALL UPDATE: LEASING AND DESIGN CONCEPTS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
This presentation provides an update on the redevelopment of the South Mall and asks Council to provide direction and feedback on the proposed leasing strategy of City owned properties and associated design concepts.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
That the City Council provide direction on the proposed leasing strategy and feedback on the design concepts for two City-owned properties in the South Mall.
BACKGROUND:
The redevelopment of the South Mall is one of the catalytic projects in the Downtown Revitalization Plan. In March of 2024, City Council approved the South Mall Redevelopment project which is to “Continue acquiring and redeveloping properties in the South Mall to complement other redevelopment projects to create a vibrant restaurant and entertainment block to support a larger destination experience for residents and visitors.”
Since March 2024, the City has acquired additional properties in the South Mall and begun preliminary conceptual work on their design and use. Redeveloping and leasing these assets is being proposed as a long term strategy to support Downtown Revitalization efforts.
