DESCRIPTION
Perform additional potholing in front of the WRF-3 control building to investigate conflicting utilities for new sewer manhole installation.
CONTRACT VARIANCE SUMMARY
The design plans show that the new sewer manhole in front of the WRF-3 control building would be constructed directly over an existing fiber optic line that connects to the WRF-3 SCADA system equipment that is located inside of the control room. Two new locations, east and west of the design location, were selected for relocating the new manhole.
Additional potholing was required at the (2) new locations to investigate if any existing utilities could conflict at the new locations. Potholing the (2) new locations were not covered in contractor's bid.
Revised Contract Amount:
Time Working Days
Relocate conflicting 6" WAS line and (2) electrical
conduits in front of WRF-3 control building to enable new sewer manhole installation.

This document shall become an amendment to the Contract and all provisions of the Contract will apply hereto. This Change Order constitutes a complete and final resolution of all claims of the Contract for additional time or additional compensation related to or affected by work that is the subject of this Change Order. Quantities of items other than Lump Sum are not to exceed the amounts indicated.
Original Contract Amount: $5,208,096.00
45 5/5/2021
After contractor completed the additional potholing at the (2) new locations where the manhole would be relocated, contractor discovered the following conflicting utilities at the preferred location: a 6" WAS line and (2) electrical conduits.
The longitudinal running utilities would conflict with the perpendicular 12' by 12' trench shoring box which is required to construct the proposed 18 ft deep manhole. Relocating the trench shoring box further away from the conflicting utilities is not possible. Therefore, placement of the trench shoring box into the 18 ft deep excavation necessitates relocating these utilities out of the way.

Subject: Proposal for Additional Potholing
AKM Email Dated May 17, 2021 (Revised for follow-up T&M pothole work) Mr. Weisman:
In response to RFI 010.1, The City has requested a proposal for additional potholing to the existing fiber optic line and WAS line.
Per onsite discussion today (5/20/21) PHC will pothole on both sides of the Fiber Optic Line for the most suitable location for the new Manhole, and existing WAS line tie-in point.
After the report of the pothole findings is submitted, The City, AKM, and PHC will discuss best course of action.
After which, PHC will submit the proposal for these conflicting utilities.
Revised cost proposal as follows:

Project No. 2018-11
Subject: Relocate WAS Line and Electrical for New Sewer Manhole – Rev. A (Eliminated Protecto Lining to Ductile Iron Pipe)
Mr. Weisman:
As agreed during our recent jobsite meeting, PHC proposes to relocate existing 6” WAS line and electrical that will interfere with our shoring at the new starting sewer manhole located just west of the WAS pump station. These relocated utilities will be constructed such that they can remain in continued service for the duration of the WRF3 Sewer Lift Station project. The plan for WAS line relocation is to utilize existing 6” plug valve discharge and continue with restrained ductile iron pipe above ground near existing curb and then down to connect to existing WAS line just east of where the primary electrical duct bank turns to enter the electrical building. A thrust block will be placed against the tie-in to restrain the existing line. There is one (1) active electrical conduit with wiring that will be de-energized and relocated around our proposed excavation in a shallow trench with pull boxes on either end. See attached sketches for proposed layout and additional details.
WAS Line and Electrical Relocation at Sewer Manhole ....................................... $22,550.11 • The ductile iron pipe and fittings are proposed with standard cement mortar lining. • Due to limited availability, ductile pipe/fittings may be combination of std black and red prime coating. • PHC considered alternate materials and discussed with Frank at City of Corona but due to pressure rating and above ground service, we were unable to find a suitable alternative that would provide cost savings. • The pull boxes are proposed as traffic rated of nominal size to receive this one conduit and wiring.
Draining of existing WAS line by City Operations. PHC will need 8hr shutdown of the WAS pumps to make the connections and then minimum over-night to cure thrust block prior to putting the bypass back into service. See attached for breakdown, and backup documents.
Sincerely,
PACIFIC HYDROTECH CORPORATION
