BACKGROUND & HISTORY:

The Sierra Del Oro (SDO) Water Treatment Plant (WTP), located at 2940 Wilderness Circle, is a critical facility in the treatment of imported raw water purchased from Metropolitan Water District (MWD) for the City of Corona. SDO WTP treats raw water for total suspended solids (TSS) through a multi-stage filtration and disinfection process before distribution into the City’s water system.

The flocculation basins at SDO WTP use baffles and mounting brackets to optimize water flow and improve sedimentation efficiency during the coagulation and flocculation processes. Over time, the existing wood baffles and mounting brackets have deteriorated, and sections of concrete have shown signs of structural degradation. To extend the useful life of the flocculation basins and maintain operational reliability, replacement of the baffles and brackets, structural concrete rehabilitation, application of corrosion inhibitor, and epoxy coating are necessary.
