Julie Webb has requested a letter of recommendation to support her application for a position on Coronado Library Board of Trustees.
Please forward this recommendation to Coronado City Council prior to February 15, 2022 Board Mtg.
It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend my friend and former co-worker, Julie Webb for this position. By quick background, I have known Julie for more than 20 years. We met while both serving in US Navy (Julie as supply officer, myself as unrestricted line officer).
After our retirements, we worked on the same team supporting a Navy contract, and lastly as fellow volunteers for Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society.
Julie would be a great “fit” and wonderful contributor for the following reasons:
1) Personal integrity. Julie has always maintained the highest standards of financial stewardship and accountability in managing Navy (public) funds and resources. She has a spotless reputation, both as an active duty officer and professional consultant. She will always be transparent and forthright in pubic financial dealings. 2) Puts the team first. I have never seen Julie not get along with co-workers, superiors, or people working for her. She is always respectful, courteous, and professional. In these polarizing times, Julie is the right person to have on your team. She is a thoughtful problemsolver. Looks at data and various options before she makes a decision. 3) Heart for service. Just as Julie served her country for 30 years, Julie loves Coronado and the community. She will serve with great dedication and commitment. 4) Skilled and capable. Julie’s leadership experience and advanced degrees in leadership and management, make her a very capable decision maker and extremely talented member of any team.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Sharon Shelton, 619-313-7827.

Sharon Shelton

I have known Julie Webb since she and her husband moved onto the Island fifteen years ago and strongly recommend her for a position on the Library Board of Trustees. I saw her in Command as a Navy Captain, through her retirement and am observing her now in her volunteer service. Throughout all of these experiences, the ups and downs, she has remained an individual who cares for and focuses on others. Her ability to bring together disparate views among competing factions, find a common path forward and negotiate challenging situations is striking. Her skills at communicating complex issues, making them understandable and applicable to me, is remarkable. I admire her tenacity and perseverance; she will not give up when she has a goal, approaching a challenge from many different angles until she finds a solution. Not only will she not give up but she has the ability to bring others to a common point of view.
I strongly recommend her for a position on the Library Board of Trustees. She brings a unique skill set that will be a great asset to the Community of Coronado.
Respectfully submitted,
Dr Joseph Paul Commette
