Members of the City Council, Ms. Friend, and Ms. Canlas:
Pursuant to City Council Policy #2, I am requesting the placement of an agenda item with the intent to consider establishing a policy and/or municipal code in regard to regulating fires on the beach in front of the Shores (the beach south of the Del Beach jetty to the Seal Base beach).
I have received communication, both at town hall meetings at the Shores Beach Club, via in person discussions, telephone calls and emails from concerned Shores residents that due to the nature of the narrow beach near the tall Shores residential buildings and an increase in beach fires, that there is large amounts of smoke blowing against their windows and balconies such that they cannot open them for air during the evenings and nights.
