Governing Board
Coronado Unified School District

Coronado, California 92118
To the Governing Board:

Attached please find my resume for your review and consideration for the appointment to the Governing Board as a temporary trustee. The resume is long but my diverse work experience merits the detail descriptions.

My commitment to the Coronado Unified School District is strong and it was a pleasure to work for the district for 24 years. A singular example of my commitment was when I was approached by Superintendent Dr. Felix in 2010 to ascertain how the district could open a fee-based preschool. He asked if I was qualified to be a preschool director. At the time, I was not qualified, but I told him I would seek the information he needed and also find out exactly what was required to be a preschool director. I immediately enrolled in the Child Development program at San Diego City College and within 2 years received my degree. As I took classes part-time, I continued to work full time for the district overseeing the child care program and immersing myself in the district’s existing state-funded preschool program. I felt it was a great accomplishment to open Crown Preschool for the district in 2013 and to serve as its first Director of Preschool and Child Care Services.

I have always enjoyed my service to the community and it would be an honor to serve on the Governing Board. I look forward to the interview process next Tuesday.

Respectfully,
Kathleen Mathis
