RESOLUTION NO. 2024-30
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORONADO, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION
OF THE CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION APPROVING THE
INSTALLATION OF NEW ARTWORK ON TEN CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (CALTRANS) BOXES ON
ORANGE AVENUE FROM THIRD STREET TO AVENIDA DE LAS
ARENAS AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT ALL
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION TO CALTRANS
WHEREAS, the City of Coronado encourages the broad distribution of public art throughout Coronado and the beautification of utility boxes is listed as a desirable public art project in the “Coronado Public Art Masterplan” adopted by the City Council on August 17, 2021; and WHEREAS, the Art Outside the Box Phase I is in need of new wraps and the Cultural Arts Commission recommends new wraps be installed in 2024; and WHEREAS, Caltrans requires an adopted public agency resolution for approval of this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Coronado as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true.
2. The City Council accepts the Cultural Arts Commission recommendation to approve the “Art Outside the Box – Take 3!” project for installation of new artwork on ten Caltrans boxes on Orange Avenue from Third Street to Avenida de las Arenas and directs the City manager to submit all required documentation to Caltrans.
PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Coronado, California, at a regular meeting thereof this seventh day of May 2024 by the following vote to wit:
