WHEREAS, mental wellness is essential to everyone's overall health and well-being; and WHEREAS, all Coronado members face challenges in life that can impact their mental wellness; and should feel comfortable in seeking help and support to manage these times; and WHEREAS, prevention is an effective way to reduce the burden of mental wellness struggles; and
WHEREAS, there are practical tools that all people can use to improve their mental wellness and increase resiliency; and
WHEREAS, mental wellness problems are real and prevalent; and reducing the stigma surrounding them is essential to helping prevent further hardship; and WHEREAS, with effective support, prevention, and tools, those individuals struggling with their mental wellness can recover and lead full, productive lives; and WHEREAS, Safe Harbor Coronado is dedicated to providing skills, support, and resources that improve the emotional and behavioral health of youth and families in Coronado, developing resilient youth, able to face life's challenges; and WHEREAS, each business, school, government agency, healthcare provider, organization, and citizen have a responsibility to promote mental wellness and well-being for all.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council of the City of Coronado, I encourage the citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, businesses, and schools in Coronado to commit our community to increase awareness and understanding of mental wellness, the steps our citizens can take to protect their mental wellness, and the need for appropriate and accessible services for all people handling their mental wellness at all stages. I do hereby proclaim and declare May 2024 to be:
"CORONADO MENTAL WELLNESS MONTH"
in the City of Coronado.
