MEETING MINUTES
Regular Meeting August 13, 2024
The regular meeting of the Coronado Planning Commission was called to order at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Coronado City Hall Council Chambers, 1825 Strand Way, Coronado, by Vice Chair Metzger.
All communications received from the public for this meeting are available on the City’s website at www.coronado.ca.us and are part of the permanent record for this meeting.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion by Commissioner Jensen to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of June 11, 2024.
Second by Commissioner Cavanaugh.
AYES: Cavanaugh, Jensen, Metzger.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Ryan, Weisbrod.
ABSTAIN: None.
RECUSED: None.
The motion passed 3-0-2. The vote was announced.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND OTHER MATTERS
Oral communications were held. No online public comments were submitted and no members of the public spoke on non-agenda items.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Director Richard Grunow had no updates.
PUBLIC HEARING
1123 Eighth Street (PC 2023-07 and CP 2023-05) – Request for a Major Special Use Permit and Coastal Development Permit to Allow for the Shared Use of a School in an Existing Religious Assembly Hall, and Determination that the Project is Categorically Exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines 15303(c).

Vice Chair Metzger disclosed that he knows the Architect on the project and expressed that it will not impact his decision.
Associate Planner Marisa Smith provided the staff report and was available for questions of the Commission.
The applicant’s representative Brittany Teeter presented and was available for questions of the Commission.

Gilberto Hernandez provided oral comment in support.

Motion by Commissioner Jensen to approve PC 2023-07 and CP 2023-05 with staff recommendations.
Second by Commissioner Cavanaugh.

ABSTAIN: None.
RECUSED: None.
