We don’t sell water but we drink it. Remember it is important to have a local stock of containers of water in an emergency. One of the issues here is that Coronado can probably reduce plastics bags and believe use and pollution by fiat but the huge polluter in the area is the TJ river and points south. Americans don’t like foolish inequity in enforcement.we also have visitors from all over the world who don’t come with a multiuse water bottle or bags for carrying things from shopping. We have seen an increase in repeat customers using multi-use bags and think that will continue—- this is a second survey I filled out because I had more to say so disregard the first one Grocery 111 11

Compostable products are available but in most cases more expensive and can’t do as good of a job especially with hot foods.

We support a single use plastic ban. We switched to paper bags for customer purchases several years ago to limit our plastic footprint.

Live Nado is on board with eliminating single
use plastic. Typically apparel companies use plastic bags to individually wrap clothing for shipping purposes, I'm almost fully complete in switching all plastic packaging to fully compostable, 100% landfill breakdown packaging. Once this initiative is fully executed, Live Nado will not distribute any single use plastics. When we sell in person, we use recycled (and recyclable) brown handle bags. I agree with banning these items, however unless there is an alternative to bottles of water, like providing for a public speaker or small groups (pitcher, jug, with cups etc) it seems risky not to provide water to the public. It could result in risk if it is hot and there are seniors or people with compromised health issues.

The State of California banned plastic bags to include the loophole that allowed thicker, more harmful plastics. Question 1 is a done deal. Honestly, the military commissaries did this months ago with no impact. The military commissaries banned all bags… plastic and paper and require people to bring their own July 1st of this year. Studies show a financial savings when single use plastics are not sold/ distributed. Emerald Keepers surveyed the community. People overwhelmingly support a single use plastic reduction in Coronado. Studies show communities that have enacted plastic reduction ordinances have less trash on the streets and in cities close to water, have less plastics in their waters.

Non-Profit 1 1 1 1 1
I fully support prohibiting all single-use plastics in Coronado.

Reducing plastic waste is very important and with the city's support businesses having impacts could work together to find options to lessen those impacts Non-Profit 1 1 1 1 1Non-Profit 1 1 1 1 1
It is important to get rid of plastic from our town, our trash and our beaches.

I am answering this survey as a consumer as well as a host of events in town, where we cater foods or prep and host ourselves. The use of plastics is: a habit, supports the "convenience" frame of mind, completely avoidable by changes in what we make available and even stock in our homes. We can all keep track of our re-usable water bottle or mug. Discontinuing the use of plastic bags and polystyrene anything seems a no-brainer to me. There are SO many options. Often larger cloth/paper bags and less to carry..These changes will show us we can lessen our "bulk" -- have a supply and, re-use that for all restaurant/ city events. Additionally, there are good options to restaurant take away containers and tableware -- and a "must ask policy" on utensils is far better than the automatic placement of plasticware in a take out meal order. Often going to trash, unopened, or dropped/ left on our beaches and streets. I don't even mind bringing my own take home container or two in a tote bag just in case. Plastics don't go away in our environment. Cloth tableware and silverware, glasses, cups, mugs are much nicer at a city event in a park, a restaurant patio, and ....you have them. A one-time purchase. Wash and shelve.

Personally, I think there should be limited use and
distribution of plastic water bottles. I think it's gotten so out of hand and people don't even think about the waste and the impact all of those discarded bottles cause. I use a glass mason jar for my "water bottle" at work - it's healthier and refillable. The industry of plastic single use water bottles has become a money making scam in my opinion and should be limited/banned, not just in Coronado.

As a dental office, there are many plastic single use items, which are necessary for decreasing cross-contamination.

Getting rid of excessive plastic use is a win-win for everyone especially the environment.

None of these affect my home office consulting business. They do affect me in my role as a customer of businesses that use such products. Public events, whether city or other, may require investment in equipment if plastics are banned.

Professional 1 1 1 1 1 Love this initiative of reducing single use plastics! Professional 1 1 1 1 1
Since CA banned disposable plastic bags, plastic waste has gone up by 40%. Why? Because now people simply throw away thicker plastic bags that they don't reuse. If you make any efforts to amend a current law, try and look downstream to see how it might have unintentional or even the opposite consequences as those which are desired. Good luck.

Professional 1 1 1 1 1
We need to put this ban in place. Coronado is the ONLY beach community in SD County without it.

Professional 5 5 5 5 5Professional 5 3 5 5 5
Stop policing people and liberties. Let the free market decide. If customers stop purchasing products with single use plastics, they will go away on their own. If customers continue buying/wanting utensils and straws, then that is the free market. Regulation hurts businesses over and over. Just like grocery stores that banned plastic bags, only to be replaced with larger plastic bags that customers now have to pay for. Its just a tax, it did nothing toward plastic. Overregulation is horrible.
