FROM: Amy Steward, Councilmember
DATE: March 4, 2025 City Council Agenda
SUBJECT: 10a Inter-Agency, Committee, and Board Assignments Report ______________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ 1) Naval Complexes Coordinating Group 2/24
I chaired the Naval Complexes Coordinating Group on Monday, February 24. In addition to the City’s report by City Manager Friend, CAPT. Montero, CO, Naval Base Coronado, reported:

1. Beach Cleanups took place on Navy beaches February 6-8. Naval personnel and volunteers removed 20 cubic yards of marine debris.

2. The base completed two exercises: Citadel Shield and Solid Curtain to test readiness, emergency response, energy resilience and installation security.

CAPT Montero thanked the Coronado Police for their support.

3. Navy storm drains were scoped and cleaned. The base drains join the city’s storm drains at Alameda and Fourth Street.

4. The 15-foot Eucalyptus stump along the fence-line on Coronado Avenue has been identified and is on the list for removal.

5. Naval Base Coronado has a new noise reporting form: forms.osi.apps.mil.

Residents may also email [email protected].

6. CAPT Montero provided a flight pattern update. He explained that some flights transit over the Shores on the east side of the complex. All flights adhere to strict FAA safety standards. Furthermore, every command operating from the North Island airfield is required to be briefed by CAPT Montero and adhere to strict guidelines for flight operations regulations. Safety is paramount to Naval Base Coronado, and CAPT Montero reiterated that all approaches are safe. All touch-and-go operations take place in the desert not at North Island.

7. Mark your calendar for May 18th for the 38th Annual Bay Bridge Run/Walk.

Thanks to the City of Coronado, the race will host both a 10K and a 4-mile course. The Navy Bay Bridge Run/Walk will soon be designated the official Navy Run! Sign up at runsignup.com.
