Members of the City Council, Ms. Friend, and Ms. Canlas:
Pursuant to City Council Policy #9, I am requesting that an item be placed on a future City Council agenda for discussion and possible action to modify the City’s beach fire ordinance to more clearly define Coronado’s South Beach as the beach from the rock jetty at the Hotel Del Coronado to the Naval Amphibious Base. The ordinance as currently written identifies South Beach as spanning Avenida del Sol to the Naval Amphibious Base.
Due to the prevailing winds, wood fires on the beach from Avenida del Sol north to the rock jetty negatively impact residents at the Coronado Shores. This clarifies the designation of South Beach and will minimize impact on the Coronado Shores residents.
