I have lived in Playport mobile home park in Costa Mesa for the past 10 years. During this time I have served on the Costa Mesa Mobile Home Coalition, the Costa Mesa Advisory Committee, and served ongoing on my parks H.O.A. I would be passionate about working on the mobile home advisoy committee because I would be given the opportunity to influence the strategic direction, alongside some of the most passionate community and city council members in Costa Mesa to grow and/or focus the vision of what we can do in our community to make a stronger impact for the moble home community.

As a Committee/Commission member, what ideas or projects are of interest to you? Manufactured housing communities can provide a cost-effective way for people with limited resources to prolong the period of time they can comfortably and independently remain in their communities. The strength of this option comes from an environment that enables residents to use their own human assets to help themselves and each other. Its stability can be strengthened by government protections such as Conversion orders and zoning issues.

I have served on this committee for 2 years now and in that time we have had a total of 3 meetings. This committee is supposed to meet 4 times a year. which means I and all of my fellow commissioners have not been able to meet and discuss any of our issues, on ether side of said issues. I believe I should be chosen to serve again because of the simple fact none of us has actually had a chance to serve the Mobile Home community since the inception of the advisory committee.

As a Committee/Commission member, what ideas or projects are of interest to you? There are a whole host of topics and issues to be discussed and presented to city staff. For instance Mobile Home park owners selling parks and not giving residents any notice of intention to sell. There are proposals for zoning and conversion orders already entered into record for review of city staff and we have not reconvened to discus these proposals since a Zoom meeting in June 2021. Of which the minutes and or any findings been posted on the committee page on the city website. 3 pressing issues I am concerned about...

I was appointed to the committee and unanimously elected as the Chair by the committee at the only meeting that was held since my appointment. After one meeting, my term is now expiring. I respectfully request to be reappointed to continue my service on the committee and as Chair of the group.
I have extensive experience in the manufactured housing industry. As a child my family lived in a mobile home park. Forty years ago I began serving as the Executive Director of the Manufactured Housing Educational Trust, which has provided me with a broad range of experience and knowledge about mobile home park communities. I bring valuable resources to the committee that are focused on solutions that are win-win for both mobile home park residents and the owners of the parks.

I am committed to listening, communicating, and am open to responsible solutions and education on issues that face both mobile home owners and the owners of the communities where they live.
