RESOLUTION NO. 2023-xx
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA BOARD OF STATE COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS (BSCC) TO RECEIVE FUNDS FOR TRAINING UNDER THE STANDARDS FOR TRAINING FOR CORRECTIONS (STC) PROGRAM.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa supports the training and education of its Police Department, including the City of Costa Mesa Jail; and WHEREAS, California Penal Code Title 7, Chapter 5, Article 2 and 3, commencing with Section 6035, provides that the city may receive State aid in order to train custodial personnel in a local detention facility; and WHEREAS, the BSCC sets standards and provides training for local adult and juvenile corrections and probation officers; and WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa wishes to avail itself of such training.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. While receiving State aid, the Costa Mesa Police Department’s Jail will adhere to the standards for selection and training, established by the Board of State Community Corrections (BSCC), as required under Penal Code Section 6035.
Section 2. This resolution will take effect immediately.
