Re: raise for city council
Please do not vote yourself a raise. Bad form. Looks arrogant, condescending towards citizens when prices are up for food and gas.

You are public servants. Anyone can aspire to run and be elected to city council, and just be thankful for the any stipend and any health insurance. A public servant serves selfishly without thought of reward. Since Covid many of the council's duties ended up being perfeormed by staff, ie complaints, because residents went straight to city staff. Customer service from council is poor in my experience. Phone calls not returned.

Please don't give yourselves a raise while we've got inflation happening. We have 6 council members, 1 mayor so your work is split up among 7. We used to have 5 and got a lot more done to keep the city safe and clean.

Somewhere along the way the Council forgot about the details that keep our city clean and safe. Why are we down 8 police officers? Why didn't you put a cap on pot clinics in the first place? Why isn't someone keeping entrance to our library clean? Why are there potholes on the street by Adams School Park?
You should not have run for council if you couldn't figure out how to live on the current stipend. The argument that others can't run because they couldn't afford to serve is ridiculous.

Do the right thing. Vote No.
