Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council discuss and provide direction to the voting delegate for the annual League of California Cities business meeting on Friday, September 9, 2022.
Background
The City Council, pursuant to the bylaws of the League of California Cities (LOCC), will appoint a voting delegate to vote on bylaws amendments at the 2022 LOCC Annual Business meeting.
Analysis/Discussion
The LOCC annual business meeting is scheduled for Friday September 9th, at 11:30 am. During a special board meeting on July 15th, the LOCC Board of Directors approved proposed bylaws amendments to enhance Cal Cities’ governance. The proposed bylaws amendments will also go before the General Assembly for a vote at the Annual Business meeting on September 9. At least two-thirds of the General Assembly must vote in favor of the proposed bylaws amendments in order for them to take effect. It is recommended the City consider the proposed bylaws and provide direction to our voting delegates.
Financial Considerations
None.
Environmental Issues
The action of providing direction to the LOCC voting delegate does not constitute a project as defined by California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15378; therefore, no further environmental review is required.
