Agenda Staff Report
Item type: REGULAR AGENDA (ACTION)
To: City Council
Subject: Appointment of a Voting Delegate and Alternate(s) to the 2022 League of California Cities (LOCC) Annual Conference
Date: August 23, 2022
Written by: Kevin Patterson, Deputy City Clerk
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council of the City of Cotati adopt a motion appointing a voting delegate and up to two alternates to the 2022 League of California Cities (LOCC) Annual Conference
Background
In preparation for its Annual Conference each year, the League of California Cities requires that member cities appoint a voting delegate who will vote on conference resolutions at the Annual Business meeting. Up to two alternates may also be appointed. The voting delegate and alternate(s) are customarily City Council members who are planning to attend the Annual Conference. League bylaws also provide that the City Council may appoint a City official to serve as voting delegate or alternate if there will not be a sufficient number of Council members in attendance.
This year’s conference is scheduled for September 7-9, 2022, in Long Beach. The Annual Business Meeting is on Friday September 9. Vice Mayor Harvey and City Manager O’Bid are currently registered for this conference.
Analysis/Discussion
The conference will be held in person at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Financial Considerations
Funding is included in the FY 2022-23 budget for related travel expenses for the two registered attendees, so no appropriation is needed.
Environmental Issues
The action of providing voting direction to LOCC delegates does not constitute a project as defined by California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15378; therefore, no further environmental review is required.
