Hi there,
I was informed to submit my comments, related to the Planning Commission workshop, where the Ag zoning was discussed. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend but Damien suggested I submit my comments for consideration.
Farmster understands there may be a ban on roosters for the general public of Cotati within the new zoning, but we hope the roosters at Veronda‐Falletti Ranch can be considered as a special case for the reasons mentioned below:
1. Roosters have been on‐site at the Veronda‐Falletti Ranch, since the original signing of the licensee agreement in 2018 with no complaints, as we do not possess neighbors in the holding area of the chickens.
2. As a City‐owned property, if there should ever be noise complaints or disturbances, then it would behoove Farmster to relocate said roosters for the continuance of the licensed partnership.
3. Roosters provide predator protection, of which there are several predators, which substantiate the inclusion of roosters for protection purposes.
Thank you in advance and if there is someone else I should be sending this to, then please do not hesitate to let me know.
Kind regards,
Dustin DeMatteo
Director, Farmster
