The City Council provided the following direction on optional zoning and/or building code changes to consider, with priority programs indicated:
- All Electric Reach Codes. Priority program. This should be implemented in residentially zoned areas similar to Santa Rosa’s vetted ordinance. Provide exceptions for commercial/industrial.
- Photovoltaic Energy Standards. Yes, but need more information to determine how to set a kW/%/site specific threshold for photovoltaic. Any standard would need battery storage as a requirement.
- Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure. Priority Program. Everyone in multifamily housing should have access to electric vehicle charging. - Certified EV Charger Installation Requirement. Yes, request to have someone from EVITP present to the City Council. Primary areas for further discussion include scope of applicability (public versus private installations), concern about certification excluding small contractors/limited contractor choices, applicable only to Level 3 electric vehicle chargers or all types of chargers, extent of City required tracking and verification as well as EVITP access to city contractors.
