Cotati Mayor and City Council,
I wanted to weigh in on the discussion regarding the election of Cotati's Mayor for the upcoming year. I don't believe that every year the Vice Mayor should automatically become the Mayor the following year, however I think that this year it is definitely in order for Vice Mayor Susan Harvey to be elected as Mayor by her fellow Councilmembers.
With the addition of new inexperienced Council members, Vice Mayor Susan Harvey's experience is an important asset to consider. She knows the job duties of Mayor, understands the huge commitment, and can be depended on to do a great job representing Cotati and running orderly Council meetings. Over the 19 years that I worked for the Cotati Chamber of Commerce, I attended countless ribbon cuttings and community events, and Susan was nearly always in attendance as either the Mayor, Vice Mayor, or as a Councilperson, doing her part to represent the Council and the City of Cotati. As Mayor, she will dependably show up and interact with the community as needed in that job. As Mayor, her years of experience on the City Council would allow her to guide and assist the newest Councilmembers, both procedurally and with her extensive historical knowledge.
I appreciate the opportunity to express my opinion.
Thank you,
Suzanne Whipple
