Cotati City Council
Agenda Staff Report
Item type: REGULAR AGENDA (ACTION)
To: City Council
Subject: Recognition of Outgoing City Councilmembers
Date: December 13, 2022
Written by: Damien O'Bid, City Manager
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution recognizing the outgoing councilmembers for their service to the community.
Background
On August 23, 2022, the City Council adopted resolution 2022-53 canceling the November 8, 2022 municipal elections and appointing the two candidates to the two available City Council positions, effective December 13, 2022. Therefore, the requirement to approve the County Registrar of Voters certified election results and declaring the results of the election is not applicable.
At this time, it is customary to recognize outgoing City Council members for their years of service to the community.
Analysis/Discussion
Sylvia Lemus and Kay Rivers were the successful candidates and have been duly appointed to the City Council for full terms of four years. As the council transitions to include its newest members, it is the City’s tradition to recognize the service of the outgoing councilmembers, Mayor Mark Landman and Councilmember John Moore, by resolution.
Financial Considerations
None.
Environmental Issues
The action of recognizing City Councilmembers does not constitute a project as defined by California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15378; therefore, no further environmental review is required.
