It is recommended the City of Cotati City Council adopt a resolution accepting the Mosaic Wall Benches Project and direct the City Clerk to file a notice of completion Background
The City’s FY21/22 Budget includes the installation of benches on the mosaic walls at the intersection of Highway 116 and Old Redwood Highway.
Analysis/Discussion
On June 28, 2022, City Council awarded the Mosaic Wall Benches Project construction contract to Coastside Concrete and Construction, Inc. in the amount of $46,500. On December 6, 2022, the City Engineer inspected the work and determined that the work has been completed in accordance with the contract documents. There were no change orders, and the work was completed for the contract amount. The City will receive a maintenance bond in the amount of 10% of the total contract amount and will be in effect for a year following acceptance by the City Council. Also, following Council acceptance of the Project, the City Clerk shall record with the County Recorder’s office the Notice of Completion.
Financial Considerations
The City’s adopted Fiscal Year Budget includes $46,000 for the Project and, upon award of the construction contract, authorized an increase in the Project’s budget to $53,000 to include the construction contract amount of $46,500 and construction contingency of $6,500. The Project including construction management was completed for $49,787 and as such the remaining $3,213 will be returned to the City’s unappropriated General Fund balance.
Environmental Issues
This Project is Categorically Exempt in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15301 Existing Facilities as the Mosaic Wall Benches Project is a minor alteration of an existing structure, therefore, no further environmental review is required.
