Dear City of Cotati Council members,
I would like to support the nomination of Shelley Berman as a Planning Commissioner.
She is dedicated, passionate and will bring a different perspective to the proceedings. In the past she has clearly made mistakes but she has apologized and paid for those errors in judgement. Who among us has not made mistakes- hopefully we learn from those and do better in the future. Shelley is ready to take on the challenge and work of a planning commissioner.
As a former member of the Planning Commission I know what the job entails and I know Shelley will do her best to fulfill all of the duties required and has always wanted the best for Cotati.
When I was first appointed to the Planning Commission by Geoff Fox on May 9, 2007 many were surprised because I was in opposition with the city on some issues. In appointing me Mayor Fox said “He would like to appoint someone who does not always agree with him on issues.” During my tenure I worked hard to listen to all sides of the issue and believe Shelley will work to see all sides of any issue.
I hope you will give her nomination thoughtful consideration and remember in the words of Shakespeare “The quality of mercy is not strain’d, It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:”
