Cotati City Council
Agenda Staff Report
Item type: REGULAR AGENDA (ACTION)
To: City Council
Subject: Recommend Appointment to Board of Trustees for the Marin/ Sonoma Mosquito & Vector Control District
Date: February 14, 2023
Written by: Damien O'Bid, City Manager
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt a motion recommending appointment of Mayor Harvey to the Board of Trustees for the Marin/Sonoma Mosquito and Vector Control District for a term of 4 years.

Background
The Marin/Sonoma Mosquito and Vector Control District protects the health and welfare of the communities it serves from mosquitoes and vector-borne diseases by utilizing cost-effective, environmentally responsible integrated vector management practices.

The Marin/Sonoma Mosquito & Vector Control District is governed by a Board of Trustees. The City of Cotati is seeking to fill one vacancy up for appointment. Cotati residency is required. The term of office for a member of the board of trustees shall be for a term of two (2) or four (4) years at the discretion of the appointing authority.

Regular Board meetings are held at 7:00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month at District Headquarters, 595 Helman Lane, Cotati.

Analysis/Discussion
The City of Cotati currently does not have a primary member on the Board. The City put out a call for applications several times and has not received any applications. To ensure Cotati representation, Mayor Harvey has volunteered to serve on the Board of Trustees. If Mayor Harvey is recommended by the City Council, the City will provide a letter to the Marin/Sonoma Mosquito and Vector Control District nominating her.

Financial Considerations
None.

Environmental Issues
The action of recommending appointment to the Marin/Sonoma Mosquito and Vector Control District does not constitute a project as defined by California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15378; therefore, no further environmental review is required.
