RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COTATI ADOPTING A
RECOGNITION AND CEREMONIAL FLAG POLICY
WHEREAS, the City Council has expressed a strong desire to recognize groups or causes through proclamations, ceremonial flags and potentially flag raising ceremonies; and WHEREAS, the City does not currently have policies on recognition, use of ceremonial flags or flag raising ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, staff reviewed similar policies in other California jurisdictions and tailored these policies into a draft for consideration that would fit Cotati’s size and resources; and WHEREAS, the action of adopting a recognition, ceremonial flag and flag raising ceremony policy does not constitute a project as defined by California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15378; therefore, no further environmental review is required.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City of Cotati does hereby adopt the policy for Council Recognition of Individuals, Organizations and/or Events, attached as Exhibit A.
IT IS HEREBY CERTIFIED that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Cotati held on the June 27th, 2023, by the following vote, to wit:
