Recommendation
Study Session on Strategic Planning for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. No action will be taken by the City Council.
Background
Attached is the following:
• Worksheets that summarize the daily activities, using the actual timesheet data for the daily activities in 2023.
• Updated worksheets, modeled after an example from Morgan Hill, summarizing programmed projects in the current fiscal year, new projects added during the year, proposed projects for fiscal year 2024/25, and associated time estimates and approximate schedules.
Analysis/Discussion
The attached worksheets are intended to provide the City Council and community with context about staff commitments to perform daily activities, which in turn informs staff availability to complete special projects. The proposed projects for fiscal year 2024/25 are based on carryover projects previously directed by the City Council, anticipated projects from the City Council or community feedback, and required projects based on legislation, permits, or regulatory documents.
Financial Considerations
Based on the current projects of flat revenue and increasing operational expenses, staff intends to bring forward a draft budget with no new full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. Therefore, staff time will be limited to the current levels, with a proposed focus on select projects and policy areas.
