Subject: ADOPTION OF THE REVISED CITY-WIDE SALARY
SCHEDULE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024/25
Date: July 9, 2024
Written by: Angela Courter, Director of Administrative Services Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the revised fiscal year 2024/25 salary schedule, as updated per the current City labor agreements.
Background
The City Council and staff believe that our citizens have a right to full transparency with respect to public information, including the wages and benefits received by City employees and elected officials. To that end, salary schedules as well as labor agreements are available on the City’s website.
For transparency as well as effective and efficient financial reporting, City staff have prepared the annual salary schedule for fiscal year 2024/25, using the adopted labor agreements in effect as of July 1, 2024 and revised for the labor agreements adopted July 9, 2024.
Analysis/Discussion
The City of Cotati has three separate bargaining units; the CEA, the Cotati Police Officers Association (CPOA), and the Cotati Police Management Association (CPMA), as well as the Non-Represented group and a single employment agreement with the City Manager. The salary schedule implements the existing approved memorandum of understanding with each group or contract.
On June 25, 2024, City Council adopted the Salary schedule for Fiscal Year 24-25 with the notation that the CPMA was still in bargaining. On July 9, 2024, City Council will be presented with a tentatively agreed MOU with the CPMA. If approved by the City Council, the attached updates to the salary schedule must also be approved to implement the MOU.
Financial Considerations
There is no additional fiscal impact associated with the approval and publishing of the salary schedule, as the changes have already been authorized by MOU and included within the proposed budgeted for adoption.
Environmental Issues
The action of approving the salary schedule does not constitute a project as defined by California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15378; therefore, no further environmental review is required.
