Subject: CITY COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS -

POLICE ADVISORY SELECTION SUBCOMMITTEE
Date: September 10, 2024
Written by: Damien O'Bid, City Manager
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion to select two City Council members to serve on the Community-Police Advisory Committee Selection Subcommittee.

Background
The City Council recently created the Community-Police Advisory Committee through adoption of Ordinance 926. This five (5) person committee is selected by a selection committee, consisting of two City Council members and the City Manager. The City Council must appoint two City Council members to serve on the selection committee to review applications and interview candidates.

Analysis/Discussion
The current City Council Appointment and Assignments summary and detail tables, indicating the current appointments and assignments, are attached. These also provide details about each assignment and appointment for reference.

Financial Considerations
The appointments to the Community-Police Advisory Committee selection sub-committee will have no direct financial impact.

Environmental Issues
The proposed appointments and assignments do not have any effect on the environment. Where it can be determined with certainty that there is no possibility that the activity in question may have a significant effect on the environment, the activity is not subject to CEQA review. This general rule can be applied to activities which could be subject to the CEQA process, but which logic dictates should not be subject to CEQA review. Therefore, based on the information provided above, the proposed resolution is exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 14.03.021 of the CEQA Guidelines in that there is no possibility that the activity may have a significant impact on the environment.
