RE: T-Mobile Proposed Wireless Communications Facility
Project Address: 680 East Cotati Avenue, Cotati, CA
Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council,
I am the Executive Director for The California Indian Museum and Cultural Center (CIMCC) and am submitting this letter in support of T-Mobile’s wireless communications facility application for the abovereferenced location. I have served as the director of the CIMCC for fifteen years. I am Pomo and Miwok, and work closely with regional tribal communities. CIMCC provides educational, cultural and support services to tribal community members throughout Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino counties. We have been serving as a resiliency hub since the Tubbs fire in 2017 and are in the process of establishing a traditional food incubator at our facility in Santa Rosa. Our organization partners with T-Mobile to serve tribal communities members in our region. T-Mobile has supported our Tribal Youth Ambassadors (TYA) program for multiple years, expanding our ability to enhance food sovereignty, cultural revitalization and increase environmental stewardship. Additionally, T-Mobile supported TYA in conducting outreach for the Assurance Wireless program to reduce connectivity inequities among tribal families in California.
T-Mobile’s proposed wireless facility will provide several important public benefits, including:
• Improved connectivity to support wireless 911 calls from the public; and • Decreased times to respond to emergencies; and
• Improved wireless service speed, reliability, and capacity. • Support Resiliency Hubs in improving the equitable distribution of resources to diverse communities during times of disaster.
T-Mobile’s proposed new wireless facility will help ensure that communication services are available in times of emergency and public need, for both first responders and the general public. It is because of this crucial public safety benefit that I am supporting T-Mobile’s proposed new facility.
