Dear Cotati Protectors,
I write to ask you to remove item 9A, regarding the resurfacing the Creek Trail, from the Consent Calendar for tonight. More time is needed to research and report the hazards of asphalt on the delicate creek environment. After years of work by volunteers and agencies to restore the channelized creek, asphalt paving is going in the opposite direction! The adjacent segment of the creek, from E. Cotati Ave. to Ladybug Park, has held up well with a decomposed granite surface that is natural and cheaper. Even the high water of last week didn't cause damage to the segment I walked recently.
Thank you so much for taking more time to make the best decision to suppor the health of our creek. Thank you as well for considering new waste containers to improve trash disposal and pick-up.
With wishes for an abundant thanksgiving holiday, know that your work on behalf of our town is appreciated so much!
